Happy new year writers!
We're back here at AWAW headquaters, scouring the internet for the most desireable competitions to share.
We're loving all the submissions that are already coming through. But it's not too late (it's never too late) to enter your writing into more competitions.
Here are some that have taken our fancy this month:
Newcastle Short Story Award
The guidelines are simple: writers over 18 years old can submit as many short stories as they like, each a maximum of 2000 words.
Prizes: $3000 first prize, $1700 second prize, $1000 third prize
Closing: 05 Febuary 2018
2018 ABR Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize
The Australian Book Review annual short story prize is one of the world's leading prizes for unpublished short fiction. With entry open to writers of all ages, there's no cons to submitting to this competition.
Entry: $15 - $25
Prizes: $7000 first prize, $2000 second prize, $1000 third prize
Closing: 10 April 2018
So Bad, It's Good Competition
This annual competition is the lighter side of writing. Asking for writing that's 'so bad it's good' this competition is a great one to remember that writing is fun.
Prizes: $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize
Closing: 28 Febuary 2018
